Training Dummies
When you start, in your starting zone you will probably notice some training dummies around your quest-givers. There are more of these in the major cities throughout Azeroth. Here is what Rakas has to say about how to use these training dummies to your advantage:
When you start, in your starting zone you will probably notice some training dummies around your quest-givers. There are more of these in the major cities throughout Azeroth. Here is what Rakas has to say about how to use these training dummies to your advantage:
"So I just started WoW not long ago, began with the 'free to play until
lvl 20' hook-line-and-sinker thing... And knew nothing... Anyway, I vaguely
remember a very early quest, perhaps from a warrior trainer, where I
had to use a new skill on a training dummy or something of that
nature... It didn't click that these training dummies were in many of the
large cities and what they might be used for (I think I just
assumed they were there just to facilitate the quest). And I'm
sure I still don't fully understand their use, but 'practice
makes perfect' as somebody once said and if I had realized I
could practice my rotations and movements - well I wouldn't be
perfect but at least a bit closer to it.
So from the get-go, and all along the way, set yourself up, do your
keybinds or macros if that's your thing, or make sure your action bar is
set how you want. Take a minute to try out your rotations, and things
like switching from single target to aoe, movement to, around and away
from the training dummies and so on. You can take a look at things like
dps, misses, parries, etc., while on the training dummies, too. Very
helpful.
Also, it is inevitable that tweaks and changes will be made
along the way as you get new abilities. Take a moment after each change to
work it out on the training dummies and to get the new hand..
finger.. clicking.. eye.. coordination thing going. I
recently made just one simple change (I thought) in my action bar right
before I entered an instance because I had this idea that it
would help. But I was fighting my old muscle memory the whole time
and it wasn't pretty to say the least."
